Gothenburg
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the Leon Lurje Trophy in Gothenburg, Sweden!
Gothenburg is a friendly and laid-back city on the Swedish west coast. It has hip, up-and-coming neighborhoods, Michelin-star restaurants, and a vibrant cultural mix you’d expect in a much bigger town, along with some of the best seafood restaurants in Sweden. You'll be spoiled with choices when looking for things to do in Gothenburg. In many ways, Gothenburg can be considered the heart of Scandinavia. It’s Sweden’s second biggest city, has a 3.5-hour ferry connection to Denmark, and is just a 2-hour drive from Norway.
From its status as a global leader in sustainability to a fascinating history of trade and innovation, there’s a lot to discover in Gothenburg. In Swedish, the city is named Göteborg, roughly pronounced yaw-ta-bore(g). This surprises many international visitors, as all other Swedish towns use the same name in both languages. To add to the confusion, many businesses in Gothenburg use the English version in their names.
The city council has fluctuated regarding its branding over the years. In 2003, it decided to use the name Göteborg, a decision that was reversed just six years later. Now, Gothenburg is the preferred choice for all international communications. You will find most of what you can expect from a big city in Gothenburg, both new and old historical parts, within walking distance. Everything you are looking for is in the city center, and you can get almost everywhere on foot or via our famous trams.
